Who are we?

The Renovation Company is family owned and operated  by Mark and Sarita Stevens. We live in Beaverton with our son and two dogs. Mark is active with the Portland Marathon committee, and Sarita serves on the Board of Arco Iris, a Spanish Immersion Charter school which is part of the Beaverton School District.

Fun Fact!

The Renovation Company was launched in 2011, by Mark Stevens, under the name Fine Finish Remodeling. Although we operated under that name for over 5 years, it was pretty obvious “Fine Finish Remodeling” hard to hear over the phone, so giving out an email address became a laborious task of spelling the letters one by one, over and over. Eventually, we added a DBA to our business, so Fine Finish Remodeling now operates as The Renovation Company. We hope that’s a little easier!

We’re still getting used to the DBA, but we think we like it… and hope you do to.

We are a full service residential focused general contractor. We specialize in renovating period and older homes, although we have worked with a large variety of home styles. We offer kitchen and bathroom remodels, attic and basement conversions, additions and adding ADUs on existing properties. In addition to these services, we often help clients with basic building maintenance and repair. We are happy to take on smaller projects, or refer to specialists if needed.

What sets us apart

Here’s where most companies talk about their superior skills, or experience, or superlative project management skills.  We think we have all of these elements, but what really sets us apart is three things.

  1. We take responsibility. We think this should the norm, but apparently not every contractor lives by this mantra.
  2. We are problem solvers. Every remodel, repair or renovation brings challenges, whether it’s in working with permitting bodies, figuring out how to resolve unconventional construction elements in older homes, matching period styles… we think round the and most of the time we find solutions that meet your goals, and are practically implemented.
  3. Lifelong Relationships. We’re loyal to our subcontractors and our vendors… through building strong relationships with others in our field, we have excellent referral sources who provide great service to our clients. In addition to our trade relationships, we enjoy a similar closeness with many of our clients. Many of our clients come back for additional projects and many more become our friends. We wouldn’t be able to sustain relationships like this unless we genuinely believed in doing the right thing by people, all the time.
